WAYNESVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — The Haywood County School Board voted unanimously Wednesday to reinstate Superintendent Dr. Bill Nolte, effective immediately.
Nolte was relieved of his duties last week after he shared a social media post of children picking cotton. Nolte said it was meant to highlight income issues.
The post was deleted, and Nolte has issued an apology. But he was relieved of day-to-day duties so the Haywood County Board of Education could investigate.

The school board said it did a full investigation into Nolte’s tenure and found no pattern of racism.
"I appreciate your work and all of the support that you have provided to reinstating me to all of my duties," Nolte said after Wednesday's vote.
