Health care professionals chat with WNC high school students
Local high school students got a little one-on-one time with surgery technicians, nurses and pharmacists at the 19th annual Health Career Conference.
It was a good chance for the more than 400 high school students to meet with health professionals in a more relaxed setting.
"When they get to see the professionals that are here, they actually have the opportunity to talk one on one with them, whereas, normally, where they see a healthcare professional, it's usually because they're ill," MAHEC’s Director of Health Careers and Diversity Education, Jacqueline Hallum said.
Professionals from more than 40 health careers talked with the students at the event put on by the Mountain Area Health Education Center, UNCA and other academic partners.
