Hendersonville police chief a finalist for South Carolina job
Hendersonville's police chief could be headed out of town.
Chief Herbert Blake is one of two finalists to become police chief of the South Carolina town of Bluffton. Blake has been the chief of the Hendersonville Police Department since 2008.
Blake served as chief in Lori, South Carolina, for seven years. And he grew up in Johns Island, South Carolina, near Charleston.
"Hendersonville has an excellent reputation for a high level of municipal services and for quality leadership. Still, Bluffton presents a unique professional opportunity that is worth me exploring," Blake said in a statement.
The final round of interviews will include a public forum July 18.
