IEEE truck on display in Biltmore Park
A Raleigh-based professional organization stopped in Biltmore Park on Wednesday to put their disaster relief truck on display.
People walking by were able to climb on board and see what members of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) do.
They respond to large disasters so they can supply power and communications for disaster relief. The eclipse was one of the reasons the group came to western North Carolina.
"We were down in Andrews, North Carolina, down where they had expected huge crowds, and indeed we had cell phone system failures and stuff that we helped provide communications around," Grayson Randall, an operator of the IEEE truck, said.
People can check out the truck through 7 p.m. Wednesday.
