In West Asheville shooting, victim alleges shooting suspect attempted to rob him

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Warrants show new information in a shooting in West Asheville over the weekend.

Asheville police say Andrew Switzer and Ryan Ashby were parked in a car near the Sonic on Patton Avenue.

Ashby says they were waiting inside the car to buy marijuana from someone.

The two say another man got into the car and demanded money. When Switzer tried to get out of the car, the suspect shot him in both legs and ran off.

Officers say the suspect's phone number was on Switzer's smartphone. They recovered the phone for evidence.

Authorities say Switzer was taken to Mission Hospital.
