John Laughter to close his jewelry stores
A mountain jewelry store business that's sparkled for decades is closing its doors. John Laughter's stores in Waynesville and Asheville will close soon.
Laughter, who started in the jewelry business in the early 1970s, said it's time to retire.
He's operated his Waynesville Main Street location since 2000. His manager there said customers are like family, and are sad to see the end of an era.
“Literally generations. It's daily. It's been a lot of tears, a lot of when are you going, what are you doing, yeah, miss you. So, it's tough,” Tammy Mosley said.
On the positive side for customers, the stores are selling off their inventory with up to 70 percent off.
Mosley said you'll be able to catch some great deals through the holiday season.
