Seven restaurants in downtown Marion are joining together to help one of their own.

The owners of Refinery 13 have a baby boy who, at only a few months old, needs blood transfusions for a rare disease. To make matters worse, his father recently had to have emergency open heart surgery.

To help raise money for the family, the seven restaurants are offering food prizes good for six months in a raffle that ends at the end of the month.

One restaurant owner said they feel like family to one another.

"The companies, the people, the businesses in downtown Marion, we treat each other as family and friends," Bruce's Fabulous Foods owner Bruce Brown said. "We have a tendency to take care of each other."

Businesses participating in the Marion Main Street 7-4-13 Christmas Benefit Raffle include Artesana Ice Cream, Bruce's Fabulous Foods, Burrito Bros. Restaurant, Flavors on Main, McDowell Local Restaurant, Mica Town Brewing and Mr. Bob's Donuts.

Tickets may be purchased at most of the participating restaurants, which line Main Street in Marion.
