Morning earthquake felt from Leicester to Haywood County

The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting that a 2.9 magnitude earthquake hit around 6:30 a.m. about 30 miles northwest of Asheville. The epicenter is between Sandy Mush and Fines Creek, near Bald Branch Road in Madison County.

Multiple people called and emailed News 13 to say they felt the tremors.

There are not any reports of damage or injuries at this time.
