A north Asheville lake has been been closed after toxic algae was found in the water.

Beaver Lake is off limits for boating and fishing. And signs around the water's edge warn of toxic algae.

The signs said people should avoid contact with the water. They also warn dog owners not to let their pets drink water from the lake.

A similar algae bloom in the water forced the lake to close for several weeks in 2019.
