WNC Cancellations & postponements already announced

Ahead of the winter weather expected this weekend, many local events have been called off. We’ll be updating this list as new information comes in:

Buncombe County

  • The Robert Beatty book signing at the Barnes & Noble Asheville Mall for this Sunday has been postponed. The new date at time is Sunday, Dec 16 at 11am.
  • The Black Mountain Christmas Parade this Saturday has been canceled and rescheduled for Dec 15 at 2pm.
  • The Governor’s Western Residence has canceled Open House for Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 8-9.
  • The Asheville CommunityTheatre gas cancelled the Dec. 8: 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 9 2:30 p.m. performances of "Snowbound"
  • Festival of Lights at Lake Julian Park Saturday night

Cleveland County

  • Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy - ACT scheduled for December 8 has been postponed.

Henderson County

  • The ACT testing originally scheduled to be administered at Hendersonville High on Saturday, Dec. 8 has been cancelled and will be postponed to a later date.
  • Historic Johnson Farm is cancelling the Christmas Festival scheduled for tomorrow, December 8.
  • Christmas in the Park event at Bill Moore Community Park in Fletcher is cancelled for Saturday and has been rescheduled for Saturday, December 15th from 2pm -6pm.
  • The Hendersonville Symphony concerts scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, have been rescheduled for Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019.
  • Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site will be closed to the public beginning at 8am on Saturday, December 8, 2018. Park managers will monitor conditions and the park will reopen when it is safe to do so.

Macon County

  • Service of Remembrance scheduled for Sunday, December 9 at the Macon Funeral Home has been canceled.

Rutherford County

  • ACT testing at East Rutherford High School has been CANCELLED for Saturday, December 8

Transylvania County

  • ACT testing at Brevard High School has been CANCELLED for Saturday, December 8
  • Transylvania County Sheriff's Office annual "Cops 4 Kids" shop with a cop event has been postponed until Saturday, Dec. 15. Parents of participants may contact their respective SRO later next week if you did not get all the details.
