4 injured after van runs stop sign, collides with vehicle of off-duty officer

An off-duty Asheville Police officer was injured Monday morning when a van ran a stop sign and collided with his vehicle.

Authorities say a Mountain Mobility van being driven by 69-year-old Norris Cody ran a stop sign on New Leicester Highway at Newfound Road, striking the vehicle driven by Officer Travis Jones.

Cody is charged with failure to stop at a stop sign. Officer Jones was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Three of the occupants in the van were also transported, also with non-life threatening injuries.
