A Buncombe County School student face disciplinary action after taking what officials described as a small pocket knife to school.

Administrators said the at Koontz Intermediate School student had the knife in his backpack .

"Per protocol, this incident was investigated and administrators were told that the student had 'showed off' the knife to a few students, but the student did not threaten them with the knife. There is no evidence that the knife was 'pulled' on anyone," district spokeswoman Stacia Harris said.

Administrators said a student having a knife is a reportable offense, and the student is facing disciplinary action.
