Protesters gathered in front of the Vance Monument Saturday morning in Asheville to rally against healthcare cuts.

The "Our Lives on the Line" demonstration was held in conjunction with a nationwide day of action for the millions of Americans whose healthcare is threatened by a repeal of the Affordable Care Act.

"This is about individuals and families, and not about power plays and one-upmanship, and voting something down because the guy you don't like voted for it," said Ellen Perry, an event organizer. "We're really just about trying to reclaim a moral center and to find ways to find our hearts again.."

Over 50 people attended the rally. Many of them expressed relief over the lack of a repeal.
