Painted 'Pigs on Parade' aim to increase awareness of factory farm conditions
Colorful pigs will soon be popping up around Asheville as a part of the LEAF Festival's "Pigs on Parade."
The hand-painted pig statues are part of Farm Sanctuary's effort to bring awareness to the more than 9 million pigs in North Carolina that are often kept crowded in factory farms, rarely seen by the public.
Students at Roots and Wings School of Art and Design have been learning about pigs, and painted their own this morning.
More pigs will be painted live at the leaf festival and will be found in front of participating businesses around asheville.
