The Henderson County State Highway Patrol Office confirms that a pedestrian was struck and killed around 8 p.m. in Hendersonville Wednesday night.

Trooper Ledford says Mateo Jimenez Domingo, 31, died in the incident.

The collision happened near Living Water Church on Sugarloaf Road, next to Howard Gap Road and Old Sunset Hill Road.

News 13 spoke with a neighbor who lives across the street from where it happened. She said she did not see the person who was struck, but investigators were in the street after 11 p.m., while Sugarloaf Road was closed in both directions.

The pedestrian was struck a couple hundred feet down the road from Living Water Baptist Church, about a quarter mile east of Howard Gap Road.

Highway Patrol has not released details about the driver, and whether this was a hit and run or if the driver cooperated with law enforcement.

The investigation is ongoing.
