Police ask for help finding McDowell County mail theft suspects

    Authorities in McDowell County are on the hunt for a couple believe to be responsible for a months-long mail theft spree in McDowell.

    Edward Cooper McDuffie Jr., 39, of Ellenboro, and Stephanie Renee Rice, 28, of Swannanoa, are each wanted on 28 counts of possession of stolen goods, 24 counts of larceny, three counts of larceny of a chose in action, two counts of financial card theft, one count of possession of methamphetamine and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

    Even though they have out-of-town addresses, detectives say the two spend time in McDowell.

    McDuffie is described as a white male who stands 6 feet, 4 inches tall and weighs 240 pounds. He has blue eyes and is bald.

    Rice is described as a white female who stands 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighs 105 pounds. She has straight, medium-length brown hair and brown eyes.

    They are reportedly driving a black 2014 Ford Taurus with N.C. tag EJV-3621.
