Police: Homeowner & attempted robber exchange gunfire
Authorities say no one was injured after a Greenville County homeowner and attempted robber exchanged gunfire early Thursday morning.
Deputies from the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office are asking for anyone with details about the armed robbery attempt to come forward.
Authorities say the homeowner was leaving for work on Mountain Valley Drive, just after 7 a.m. when the suspect, dressed in dark clothing and a cover over his face, came out from behind some bushes and attempted to rob the victim at gunpoint.
The homeowner, who was armed at the time, exchanged gunfire with the suspect before the suspect ran across Highway 290 and got in a red pick-up truck.
No injuries have been reported at this time and authorities say they don’t believe the suspect got away with any of the victim’s items.
No further information is available at this time.
Deputies do request that anyone who has information regarding this case to call Crime Stoppers of Greenville at 23-CRIME.
