Police: Woman breaks into car while in the repair shop, steals & uses victim's debit card

A Marion woman has been arrested after police say she took a wallet and its contents from a vehicle while it was being repaired, and then used the debit cards to purchase items at a truck stop.

The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office says Amy Leigh Brown, 41, is charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle, obtaining property by false pretense, larceny, possession of stolen goods, financial card theft and financial card fraud.

The owner of the vehicle reported to authorities that on December 12, 2017, someone had stolen the items from her vehicle while it was being repaired.

Authorities were able to track down Brown in their investigation.
