Beer and cider fans rejoice! We’ve found the perfect race series for you! The Race To The Taps, the beer and cider powered running series, returns for 2019 with a series of 5k events at area beer and cider makers. The first event is March 23 at 11 am at Bold Rock Hard Cidery in Mills River.

“This is a great course to start on, whether you’re a seasoned runner, or even walk-running it,” says Tammy Jones, morning co-host on Mix 96.5, which produces Race To The Taps. “Along with beginners, we’ll have a lot of participants trying to set a PR.”

Race registration includes a local cider or beer at the finish for participants who are at least 21.

“We have people run this as a family, with kids and dogs,” Jones adds. “It’s a fun party at the finish line.”

Along with awards for the fastest men and women in each age category, there are special prizes, including Queen and King of the Taps for runners in cider-themed costumes, and the Golden M.O.P. – middle of the pack, for the runner with the closest time to the average of the fastest and slowest participant.

Online registration is $30 at the828.com/race.
