Heavy rains and flooding have caused several issues in Transylvania County, including the partial collapse of a road and a collapsed roof at the Ingles in Brevard.

Wilson Road is closed where a tree fell during Wednesday's rains, but just beyond the tree, about a third of the road has also been washed out.

Transylvania County emergency services said the NCDOT estimates the road will be closed until the middle of next week.

Drivers are advised to take the following detour:

Drivers traveling north on Wilson Road should take US-276 West to Bert Lane Road, turn right onto Bert Lane Road and follow to Elm Bend Road, turn right onto Elm Bend Road and follow to re-access Wilson Road. Motorists traveling south on Wilson Road should take a right onto Elm Bend Road, follow Elm Bend Road to Bert Lane Road, turn left onto Bert Lane Road and follow to US-276, turn left onto US-276 and follow to re-access Wilson Road.

Other roads were forced to close due to flooding, including Hannah Ford, Island Ford, and East Fork Road, with water across several others.

The Ingles in Brevard was forced to temporarily close after part of the roof collapsed. Seven 10 inch by 20 inch holes were found in the store's roof about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Brevard police said in a news release. The release said the holes "appeared to be intended to create a way for the rain to damage the interior of the store." The store manager said they hoped to clean up and reopen the store by Wednesday afternoon.

Heavy rain is expect to continue into the weekend, so residents should expect this road and others across the county to be impacted, possibly for several days
