Red Cross in need after more than 200 blood drive canceled because of Florence
One of the best ways you can help relief efforts is by donating blood.
American Red Cross officials said they have had to cancel 200 drives because of Hurricane Florence. A representative said that adds up to more than 5,200 uncollected blood donations.
Under normal circumstances, we're told, every two seconds someone is in need of blood. So now, more than ever, it's important for people to step up.
"If you're a first-time donor, you just come out to the blood drive, bring a photo ID, drink plenty of water the day before and the day of and eat a well-balanced meal before you come so you feel great," Red Cross donor recruiter Tabitha Bagwell said.
