A TV station on the North Carolina coast has evacuated after storm surge from Hurricane Florence caused water to rise around the building, according to reports.

Meteorologists with WCTI in New Bern reported on air that the station was evacuating on Thursday evening.

"So that really did just happen. The water started rising and we evacuated almost an entire TV station in about 15 minutes," a tweet on anchor Jaime McCutcheon's account said.

Meteorologists reportedly stayed behind after the building was evacuated to keep reporting on Hurricane Florence.

A video posted on Meteorologist Ashley Pratt's Twitter account showed water building underneath satellite dishes around the station.
