MARION, N.C. (WLOS) — A new mural celebrating Hispanic heritage is now on display in the mountains.
Centro Unido Latino-Americano presented the new mural Sunday, May 29 outside Mica Town Brewing Company in Marion.
It's part of the See Our Voices Festival in McDowell County, to celebrate the inaugural LatinX mural in the county.

One of the organizers shared with News 13 the importance of highlighting Hispanic voices in Western North Carolina.
"I grew up here in McDowell and I never saw faces that represented my community. I have two daughters, and I don't want them to grow up feeling like outsiders, I want them to feel that this is their community because this is our homes," said Margarita Ramirez, executive director, Centro Unido Latino-Americano. "This right here if you can see, it has similar faces to the LatinX community and other communities."

The festival also celebrated Hispanic heritage through authentic food, music, folkloric dance performances, arts and crafts and raffles.
