ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — A pinkish-purple RV covered in signatures has been making its way around Asheville. The RV is part of a campaign in support of the Equal Rights Amendment, which would guarantee women and men equal rights under the Constitution.
Virginia recently became the 38th state to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment. A legal battle is keeping it from being added to the Constitution.
"Most people don't know that women don't have equal rights under the Constitution. The only right we have under the Constitution is to vote," said Jimmie Cochran Pratt, of the Equal Rights Amendment North Carolina Alliance.
People are encouraged to sign the RV to show their support for equal rights and vote for lawmakers who support it.
