The state attorney general weighs in on the merger between Mission Health and HCA Healthcare.

“In fact, in the last three months, my office has received more letters and emails about this proposed sale than any other topic,” Josh Stein said in a statement.

He says his review focuses on HCA's commitments to provide needed healthcare at Mission; preserving people's investment in the Dogwood Health Trust, the successor foundation of the not-for-profit Mission Health; and making sure the board of the trustees represent the diversity of Western North Carolina.

The attorney general must approve the merger before it becomes official.
