4:30 p.m. update:

On Sunday, the Town of Waynesville has declared a State of Emergency under which residents are required to observe a curfew beginning Sunday night at 8 p.m. and ending Monday at 6 a.m.

Law enforcement, emergency personnel and city workers/public safety workers are exempt from the curfew.

Meanwhile in Sylva, Jackson County Public Works says that around 4,500 Duke Energy customers and 1,200 Haywood EMC customers are without power.

"Although freezing rain and snow have stopped for now, weather officials predict that all could be back by tonight. Primary roads are passable, but re-freezing is likely overnight and will likely affect morning commutes. Secondary roads are still treacherous for travel with snow, down trees and power lines."

Buncombe County offices will be closed Monday due to inclement weather.
