Suspect charged with attempted murder after man reportedly shot in the neck

A McDowell County man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder following an incident in October where a man was shot in the neck.

DEATH INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY AFTER TWO PEOPLE FOUND DEAD IN GAS STATION PARKING LOT

Authorities say on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, deputies responded to a Marion residence for a reported gunshot wound victim.

Authorities arrived and found the victim, a Swannanoa man, had been shot in the neck. The victim survived and is expected to recover.

ASHEVILLE WOMAN CHARGED IN SUMMER CRASH THAT KILLED PEDESTRIAN

The suspect, Harold Joseph Mullen, Jr., of Marion, was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder.

Mullens is being held on a $400,000 secured bond. His next court date is scheduled for Feb. 27, 2023.
