Three people transported to the hospital after morning crash in Buncombe County
A Wednesday morning crash involving two vehicles sends multiple people to Mission Hospital with injuries. The crash happened on New Leicester Highway at the Newfound Road intersection.
Troopers say one person, not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from a Ford Focus that collided with an Acura when turning left onto Newfound Road from New Leicester Highway. The Acura flipped and landed on its top. Troopers say there was only the driver inside the Acura; that person was transported to Mission Hospital. The driver and the ejected passenger of the Focus were also both transported to Mission Hospital.
"This is a pretty significant collision. Anytime you have a collision of this nature and you're not wearing your seatbelt and you get ejected out of the vehicle, the odds are not in your favor. I'm not saying that a seatbelt will prevent all the injuries but it will most certainly help take a bad wreck like this and reduce those injuries," says Trooper Rico Stephens.
No word on the conditions of the individuals involved in the crash at this time.
