The Tryon Downtown Development Association is hosting a downtown block party to celebrate its equestrian history during Horse Heritage Week.

The 73rd annual Block House Steeplechase was set to be the kickoff event for Heritage Week, April 13-21. But as News 13 reported Monday, due to upgrades on the course being disrupted from extreme rain, and the safety of the horses being paramount, the steeplechase had to be rescheduled to October 5.

It will return to the spring in 2020.

    The party is set for Saturday, April 13 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
