Two hospitalized in crash involving state trooper
Troopers are investigating after a crash involving a North Carolina Highway Patrol car Tuesday morning.
The crash happened just before 10 a.m. on Highway 25 at the intersection of Old Roper Road. Investigators say two people were taken to Pardee Hospital following the crash.
Trooper Rico Stephens says the trooper was patrolling north on Highway 25 in Henderson County. He did not see a Nissan Rogue SUV in front of him slow down for traffic.
The trooper hit the SUV, causing it to travel down the road a short distance.
After the collision, the trooper went to check on the people in the SUV and at their request he called for an ambulance to respond to the scene for treatment. Those in the SUV were taken to the hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening.
The trooper was not injured in the crash.
