USGS reports 2.2 magnitude earthquake Monday morning near Asheville
Did you feel it? Another East Coast earthquake has been reported by the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
According to the USGS, the 2.2 magnitude earthquake happened Monday morning just before 12:30 a.m., around 3 miles north-northwest of Canton.
This is just the latest quake to impact Western North Carolina. On December 12, 2018, a 4.4 magnitude earthquake struck in Decatur, Tennessee, about 180 miles from Asheville.
Hundreds of startled families woke up to their homes shaking. News 13 received dozens of phone calls from residents across Western North Carolina who said they felt the earthquake.
There were no reports of damage.
