HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — A Waynesville man, who authorities say has a history of violent behavior, faces new kidnapping and assault charges.
Brian Keith Gibson, 29, of Waynesville, is charged with first-degree kidnapping, second-degree kidnapping, assault on a female, and child abuse for two incidents in June.
According to arrest warrants, on June 15, 2018, Gibson was accused of kidnapping a woman and punching her in the face. Warrants say the woman was assaulted while holding her 8-month-old child.
The first-degree kidnapping charge stems from an incident on June 18, 2018, involving the same victim.
A Magistrate Recommendation for Domestic Violence Bond indicates Gibson has a history of assaultive behavior, including assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. The document also says Gibson has an extensive history of failing to appear in court.
Gibson is currently being held without bond in Haywood County. His next court date on the kidnapping and assault charges is set for July 25, 2018.
