Travelers in Western North Carolina could be scrambling to make it in and out of Asheville Regional Airport this weekend as a storm bringing heavy snow is also expected to bring travel headaches to a wide swath of the area.

Airport spokeswoman Tina Kinsey said all passengers should prepare for cancellations and delays. If you are flying, check flight statuses regularly because they will change.

One passenger at the airport Thursday was concerned about getting home this weekend.

"My biggest worry is, once I get back, going back to Boone because they're measuring the snow in feet not inches. That's how much we're preparing for<" Boone resident Ryan Decker said.

Kinsey said snow crews will be working around the clock clearing snow from the runways. But she said the airport will not close.
