Precautionary lockdown at West Henderson High lifted
UPDATE (2:56 p.m.) - The lockdown at West Henderson High School has been lifted, according to the sheriff's office. All students are safe.
West Henderson High School was under a precautionary lockdown Thursday afternoon.
Henderson County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Allison Nock said the lockdown happened after an SRO at East Henderson High School was made aware of a text message that indicated there was a vehicle on West Henderson's campus that contained guns and drugs.
Nock said West Henderson was placed on lockdown as the campus was searched, but nothing was located.
The lockdown was lifted at approximately 2:50 p.m.
Deputies with the Henderson County Sheriff's Office initially said the lockdown was based on an "unverified online safety concern."
