Some schools in the mountains are helping our neighbors to the east.

Erwin High adopted a coastal football team. The East Carteret Mariners had damage to their facilities and their community. So. Erwin is collecting supplies and donations to help them get back on their feet.

And money for hurricane relief was collected Monday night before the Reynolds-Roberson game.

"We just want to have respect for other people and respect for what people go through," Roberson soccer coach Josh Martin said. "Social media brings everyone together. Everyone knows about the hurricane. As it comes through, you know, you're getting updates, whether it be Facebook, Twitter. So, the kids know about this."

Donations may be made through Friday. Then, Erwin coaches will drive the supplies to the coast.
