The wreck happened on Sunday, Aug. 12, at about 6:30 p.m., near the intersection of Bear Creek Road.

Asheville police say the driver of a vehicle was traveling eastbound on Patton Avenue when they crossed both westbound lanes, ran off the road and overturned.

Police say 28-year-old Kilby Greer Elkins, of Candler, was a passenger in the vehicle and was ejected during the crash.

Elkins was taken to Mission Hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she died on Thursday, Aug. 16.
