ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) -- The lineup for the 2018 "TEDxAsheville is all set--and one of the 10 speakers is a local agricultural pioneer.
She goes by the name "Farmer Franny."
Franny Tacy is the first woman to grow industrial hemp under North Carolina's pilot program, and the Buncombe County farmer's focus will be on women in hemp.
Tacy says she feels more comfortable promoting the plant than talking about herself.
"It will be a soul-revealing story about Farmer Franny, and what motivates me, and how we're moving forward and moving mountains in this industry," she said.
TEDxAsheville 2018 will be held on September 9 at the Isis Music Hall in West Asheville.
