Suspect taken into custody after woman burned in Edneyville
A woman with severe burns was taken to the hospital by helicopter Thursday afternoon, and assault suspect Anthony Harrison Moore was arrested after SWAT arrested him behind the Edneyville home, investigators suspected he was hiding in, Thursday night.
"Well, it happened right before sunset," said neighbor Kenneth Maney. "Me and my son were getting ready for dinner when patrol cars, an ambulance, and a fire truck pulled in."
"She had gasoline poured on her," said Major Frank Stout with the Henderson county Sheriffs Department. "We don't know how she was set on fire, but she does have severe burns."
"I've heard some things as well," said neighbor Kenneth Maney. "It was gasoline throwed on her, she lit a match or lighter, while she was in the car, and apparently caught herself on fire." Many said there have been problems at the home before and that he often sees many people coming and going.
The arrest took place near Bearwallow Mountain Road and Old Clear Creek Road in Edneyville.
Authorities said Moore was taken into custody without incident in the wood line behind the home. Moore is expected to face formal charges Friday.
