WASHINGTON (TND) — Chris Cuomo made some shocking comments during a podcast episode released Wednesday, in which he recounted that following his abrupt termination from CNN he was in such a bad head space that he felt like he "was going to kill everybody," including himself.
The former prime time anchor made the dramatic remarks on an episode of former White House Press Secretary Anthony Scaramucci's podcast, which was released Wednesday morning.
"I had to learn to accept it," Cuomo said of the "damage" that resulted from his firing, which came amid an investigation launched by CNN into whether he improperly helped his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, combat sexual assault allegations being levied against him.
I had to accept [the termination] because I was going to kill everybody, including myself," Cuomo continued. "Things can consume you. Italians are so passionate and I really had to fight against that."
Cuomo acknowledged he is "very flawed" and makes "a lot of mistakes," insisting during the podcast that he should not be idolized but rather used as an example to learn from.
The former CNN prime time anchor also admitted he sought therapy after being "s**t-canned" by his bosses at CNN.
There's damage that's relatable to people, there's damage that's unrelatable to people that I have to deal with," Cuomo insisted.

Since departing CNN, Cuomo has attempted to make a comeback with a new show on the cable news channel NewsNation. But Cuomo seemed less than thrilled at the new opportunity, calling the move to a much smaller audience, "kind of embarrassing."
Look I'm taking chances. I'm trying things, I got to try more things, I'm trying to build something," Cuomo told Scaramucci.
The National Desk (TND) attempted to reach out to Cuomo for comment regarding what he said about his mindset following his termination from CNN, but TND did not hear back prior to publication. If a response is received this story will be updated.
