Art took on a different form when some A-B Tech students put their baking and pastry skills to the test.

Students in the Baking and Pastry Arts program at Asheville–Buncombe Technical Community College used food to create works of art. It was part of the graduating class' senior project, in which they had to create a menu and desserts.

Instructor Vincent Donatelli said the project will help the students in their future careers.

"It's there own ideas and their own flavors and their own profiles. So, they get to bring things together. Bring the two years to a closure. And then they get a critique from the outside industry, not from me anymore, not from chef anymore, school judges. They get the outside industry," Donatelli said.

This is the 16th year for the capstone project.

The students graduate in May.
