Henderson Co. schools show love for community in honor of Valentine's Day
Students from West Henderson High School are teaming up with students from Glenn C. Marlow Elementary to show their love for others in the community.
They're visiting with residents at The Lodge at Mills River, a health and rehabilitation facility, in honor of Valentine's Day.
Older students are members of the school's Key Club, and say it's important to give back to the community.
"I know a lot of people don't volunteer until they start looking for colleges, but it's great that Glenn Marlow is starting with 'K' kids and working up to high school," Amber Detwiler, of West Henderson High School, said. "So, kids really get a foundation for why it's good to volunteer."
This is the second year the Key Club has visited The Lodge residents for Valentine's Day, but it is the first year they partnered with students from Glenn C. Marlow.
