Leicester Elementary students donate food, money to local animal shelter
Some students at Leicester Elementary School are proof that kids can do amazing things.
Members of the Society of Pets in Need (SOPIN) Club put their heads and hearts together to help out a local animal shelter.
Students collected food as well as $111 to give to Brother Wolf Animal Rescue.
The students were inspired to plan, organize, and carry out the good deed after they saw a news story about someone stealing food from the rescue group.
"Some people think that just adults can handle all of this stuff and make it happen, but we made it happen," fourth-grader Selah Risbee said.
Ayden Plemmons is also a member of the SOPIN Club, but she wasn't able to be there when News 13 crews were filming.
Students say they plan to drop off the supplies to Brother Wolf on July 10, 2018.
