Storybook characters parade through Candler Elementary School
Cruella de Vil and her puppies took the lead as students at Candler Elementary School put on a parade of storybook characters. Everyone was there -- from Harry Potter to Alice in Wonderland.
Students dress as their favorite storybook characters to show off their love for reading in an event the school holds every year.
The students said they love to read so they can learn new things or travel to new places in their minds.
"I usually read the chapter books, like chapter books that have no pictures in it, because I want my own imagination making my own world with it," Adilynn said. "And I like going to sleep and remembering everything I just read."
"If somebody was reading about butterflies, maybe, and they didn't know what food it likes to eat or what flowers they go to to get pollen, then they might read a book about it and then know all about it," Kyliegh and Aishlinn said.
It was also family reading day at the school, so parents, relatives and friends were invited to join kids in the classrooms to read their favorite books.
The school has family math days, too.
