Students to perform 'Christmas Around the World' program
Some McDowell County kids got a taste of how the holidays are celebrated around the world.
Students at Pleasant Gardens Elementary performed their dress rehearsal for their "Christmas Around the World" program.
The second-graders learned to sing songs in many different languages.
"Like the Philippines and 'Mele Kalikimaka,' and I have never actually heard of the German 'Silent Night,' ever," student Austen said. "So, I'm lucky that I learned that."
"The German 'Silent Night' was very interesting and cool to me. It was just amazing how it had all those funny words (laughing)," Maggie said.
The students also learned Silent Night in American Sign Language.
They'll perform the show for friends and family on Monday, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m., followed by a special holiday meal.
