Countdown to the Asheville Food Truck Showdown
The Asheville Food Truck Showdown returns to the mountains and each week leading up to the big event, one of the competing trucks will be on News 13.
A.J. Gregson of Lil' Mojo brought his dish to News 13 This Morning on March 17, one week before the big competition.
The returning champion made a dessert.
Dano Holcomb stopped by News 13 This Morning with Root Down on March 10.
He won the competition 3 years in a row, taking home the People's Choice Award last year.
Santiago Vargas brought his food truck to the studio on March 3, demonstrating how he makes his award-winning wings.
They delivered him a first-place finish in 2017 at the Asheville Wing War.
Darren Stephens of Amazing Pizza Company was first up on Feb. 24 , showing how he prepares the pizza in his truck.
The competition begins on March 24 at the Western North Carolina Ag Center.
It runs from 11 - 7 and is free.
It's also a benefit for Manna Food Bank and Brother Wolf.
Organizers say for every five Laura Lynn cans you donate, you will be entered in a drawing for the chance to win a $100 gift card from Ingles.
They are also asking for non-perishable pet food items and new toys to donate to Brother Wolf.
The final day to purchase a VIP tasting ticket is March 20 at 10 pm unless they run out before then.
