Dirty Dancing Festival celebrates the cult classic 30 years after its release

The Dirty Dancing Festival promises to be a special event this year as it celebrates several notable milestones.

The film was released 30 years ago in 1987, and the 8th annual festival this year will fall on Patrick Swayze's birthday.

The festival will be held in Lake Lure on August 19 and 20, and features a jam-packed schedule.

The film will be screened on Friday evening, which has become a tradition, followed by a busy Saturday, including live bands with 60s beach & soul music, dance lessons, "Kellerman's Festival Talent Show," shag lessons, watermelon games and the famous 'lake lift' competition!

Festival co-founder Michelle Yelton visits the News 13 studio to talk about this year's festival, and what makes the film so memorable and special 30 years later.
