Have fun and meet your local law enforcement officers for 'National Night Out'

ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- On Tuesday, police and sheriff's departments across the mountains and nationwide will spend some time in the neighborhoods they serve, and have a little fun while doing it.

The goal of National Night Out (NNO) is to promote police-community relations and safer neighborhoods.

There are multiple events happening in the mountains for NNO.


  • 4pm-9pm
  • Sorrells Park
  • Seatbelt Convincer
  • Dance with an officer: for those 12 years old and under, pay 50 cents and dance with an officer, all proceeds go to the Haywood County K-9 officers
  • Refreshments & family fun


  • 6pm-9pm
  • East main Street from Broad Street to Johnson Street
  • Explore law enforcement and fire & rescue vehicles
  • NASCAR show car & appearance by Spencer Childers
  • Square dancing
  • Bounce House
