This weekend, three dozen artists race against the clock to complete original pieces for a good cause.

The 17th annual QuickDraw Live Art Benefit is happening Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 4:30 p.m. at Laurel Ridge Country Club in Waynesville.

Artists have one hour to complete a painting to be auctioned off. Top bidders will take home these original works.

On News 13 This Morning, Lauren Brigman introduces us to two participating artists in Waynesville. Jo Ridge Kelley is an oil painter and Teresa Pennington is a colored pencil artist. Both have studios in downtown Waynesville.

Tickets are on sale right now for $75 and include the live event, a live music social, auction and meet-the-artists dinner. Click here to purchase tickets.

Organizers say proceeds help furnish classroom art supplies in Haywood County Schools and college scholarships for art-related studies. Plus, artists donate at least 50% of the sale of their piece to QuickDraw.

Since 2001, QuickDraw representatives say artists and buyers have raised $139,000 in classroom supply grants and scholarships.
