Blue Ridge Parkway officials provide season preview
You can get a glimpse at projects and activities planned for the Blue Ridge Parkway this season. News 13's Lauren Brigman gives viewers a first look at some of the plans on News 13 This Morning.
A drop-in public event will happen at the Folk Art Center along the Parkway, between 4pm and 7pm on Wednesday, February 28th.
There will be rangers on site to provide information. The goal is to raise awareness of opportunities for visitors and ways to protect Parkway resources.
Organizers say this is the first time for this type of event in Asheville, to showcase the various aspects of the Parkway.
"From the visitor experience to some of our maintenance projects, to how we care and monitor some of the smallest living species on the Parkway," explains Public Affairs Officer for the Blue Ridge Parkway, Leesa Brandon.
Parkway officials say the Linn Cove Viaduct just north of Asheville will be closed for a couple of months starting March 1st.
The closure is for repaving and bridge maintenance. You can learn more about improvement projects like this, at today's event.
