After going through their best stretch of the season during an eight-game homestand, the Tourists lost three games in just more than 24 hours over the weekend.

Asheville won five of six last week but dropped a 3-0 decision to Lexington on Saturday night and followed that by getting swept in a doubleheader on Sunday at McCormick Field.

A three-run fourth inning propelled Lexington (26-22) to win Sunday’s first game 5-4, and a two-run sixth provided the winning runs in the 5-3 victory in the nightcap.

Asheville’s Bret Boswell was 5-for-7 in the two games and stretched his hitting streak at home to 16 consecutive games, the longest run of any player in the South Atlantic League this season. He has also reached base in 18 straight games.

The 3-0 loss Saturday night marked the sixth time this season the Tourists offense has been shut out, tops in the league.

Asheville (19-29) was scheduled to play Lexington at 1:05 p.m. Monday to complete its eight-game homestand, but the game was postponed because of the weather.

The Tourists are on the road for six games before returning to McCormick Field on June 5 for a six-game homestand.
